Eight championships, including two major titles and four at WTA Masters 1000 events (in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami and Rome): The award for the best player 2022 can only go to Iga Swiatek. Even if the end of the season at the WTA Finals in Fort Worth wasn't quite perfect, Swiatek lost in the semi-finals to Aryna Sabalenka.

The other nominees (Ons Jabeur, Cori Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Caroline Garcia and Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina) can pre-formulate their congratulatory tweets.
Pretty much as clear is the case with the best double of the year. The first and almost only candidates are Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova, who won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open in the recent season.

Niemeier and Maria nominated

From a German point of view, Jule Niemeier can hope for the award for the best newcomer. Niemeier had reached the quarter-finals in Wimbledon and at the US Open stood up to the eventual winner Iga Swiatek in a great way.

Speaking of Germany: Tatjana Maria, who even reached the semi-finals in Wimbledon after beating Niemeier, was nominated in this category alongside Donna Vekic, Serena Williams and Daria Saville.

The list of potential coaches of the year is really rich: led by Tomasz Wiktorowski there are David Witt (Jessica Pegula), Carlos Martinez (Daria Kasatkina), Issam Jellali (Ons Jabeur), Bertrand Perret (Caroline Garcia), Corey Gauff and Diego Moyano (Cori Gauff), Tim Hill (Maria Sakkari) and Rafael Paciaroni (Beatriz Haddad Maia).
