Angelique Kerber did not even take an hour to introduce Anna Blinkova to the beauties on the Cebter Court in Bad Homburg. The 2018 Wimbledon winner also made an excellent impression in her second match at the WTA Tour 250 tournament, which was held for the first time, and made it into the quarter-finals 6-0 and 6-2 after just 59 minutes of play. There Kerber plays against the young American Amanda Anisimova, who defeated Andrea Petkovic in round two.

Victoria Azarenka had to fight much harder on Wednesday. The Belarusian dragged herself across the pitch against Alizé Cornet with obvious problems and had to take a medical timeout in the middle of the third set. Azarenka finally won 6: 4, 3: 6 and 7: 6 (7). The next opponent is the Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo.

With Laura Siegemund, Kerber is a second German in the round of the last eight. Siegemund plays against Katerina Siniakova. Tournament favorite Petra Kvitova can also move into the quarter-finals. The Czech faced Ann Li in the last game of the day.
