Great story: From qualifying to the final and only giving up one set so far - Tatjana Maria (WTA No. 237) is doing well. Variable on both sides and often with the forehand slice. The German match plan worked against Kamilla Rakhimova (WTA No. 85). After her clear 6:2 and 6:2 success, in which she only made two (!) avoidable mistakes, she surprisingly meets Laura Pigossi in the final.
Osorio surprisingly out against Pigossi
There was a bigger surprise in the first semi-final of the day. Qualifier Laura Pigossi (WTA No. 167) took out defending champion Camila Osorio (WTA No. 33) after 2 hours and 11 minutes of play. Of course, the 27-year-old Brazilian was very happy, although Osorio was visibly shaken. Towards the end of the game she even had to serve from below.
