Belinda Bencic finally wrote against Paula Badosa

For Belinda Bencic, all good things came in fours in Charleston on Friday. Because the Swiss finally managed to defeat Paula Badosa, number two in the WTA Tour 500 tournament, on the fourth attempt. Bencic had played against the Spaniard for the first time a year ago and lost as well as the following two matches. This time, however, the Tokyo Olympic champion had the upper hand, winning 2: 6, 7: 6 (2) and 6: 2.

The next task could be just as challenging. Because Ekaterina Alexandrova is now waiting in the semifinals. The Russian showed her impressive form in the 6-0 and 6-2 against Magda Linette. Bencic and Alexandrova have played each other four times so far, the record is balanced.

Meanwhile, hopes of a home win in Charleson rest solely on Amanda Anisimova's shoulders. In the quarterfinals she defeated her compatriot Coco Vandeweghe 6:1 and 6:2 after a playing time of only 64 minutes. Ons Jabeur, the fourth woman in the semifinals, was similarly short-lived with Ukraine's Anhelina Kalinina, winning 6-3, 6-2.
