Right from the start, Ash Barty made it unmistakably clear with which ambitions the world number one entered the final of the WTA 1000 event. The Australian presented herself inviolable in her service games and put pressure on server Jil Teichmann, debutante in a final of this category, right from the start.
The Swiss woman was able to prevent a break up to the score of 4: 3, but then Ash Barty grabbed her opponent's serve. The decision in round one, a little later, the Australian served to 6: 3.
Barty top favorite in Flushing Meadows
It worked faster for the Australian in the second round with a break, in the first game the number one in the WTA charts got the serve from Teichmann and quickly moved away with a double break to 3-0. At this point, Barty had already played himself into a frenzy, the Australian now looked inviolable and clearly won the second round 6: 1. A show of power by the world's number one.
Ash Barty has thus impressively underlined her ambitions to win the title at the US Open after Wimbledon. After her bitter opening defeat at the Olympic Games against Sara Sorribes Tormo, the world number one can use the self-confidence in Ohio.
