Barbora Krejcikova made an impressive start to the hard court tournament in Cincinnati

Barbora Krejcikova made a really strong impression in her first round game at the WTA Tour 1000 event in Cincinnati against the Russian Daria Kasatkina. The Czech triumphant of this year's clay court Grand Slam tournament in Roland Garros clearly prevailed 6: 3, 6: 2 against the lady from Tolyatti after only 1:12 hours of play.

Krejcikova's next task is an even easier one, at least on paper, as it either goes against the young American wildcard player Catherine McNally (WTA 136) or against the Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, who is currently 50th in the WTA .

Pavlyuchenkova without a US visa

The game operations in the state of Ohio could only be started with a delay of one and a half hours due to rain. Bad weather can also be expected in the region around Cincinnati for the next few days. There was also bad news for the Russian top 20 player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova before the tournament started.

The 30-year-old had to withdraw from the Western & Southern Open because she did not get her visa for the USA in time. Pavlyuchenkova, meanwhile, is still in Canada, where she played at the Montreal 1000 tournament last week. She now hopes that she will be able to enter in time for the US Open.
