WTA Cincinnati: Naomi Osaka eliminated! Kerber knows opponent
Naomi Osaka surprisingly failed at Cinicnnati's WTA 1000 event on Friday night. The Japanese lost to Jil Teichmann in three sets. The Swiss woman's compatriot, Belinda Bencic , also reached the quarter-finals. Angelique Kerber , meanwhile, knows her opponent for the round of the last eight.

Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka (23) was eliminated in the round of 16 at the WTA tournament in Cincinnati. The world number two from Japan was defeated by the Swiss Jil Teichmann 6: 3, 3: 6, 3: 6 and suffered the next setback in the dress rehearsal for the US Open. The Grand Slam tournament at Flushing Meadows begins on August 30th.
"I'm almost glad I lost because it gives me so many things to work on in my game," said Osaka. "I just hope the results come in time for the US Open." The Japanese was also eliminated in the round of 16 at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Osaka had previously announced that it would donate the prize money it won in Cincinnati to support the earthquake victims in Haiti. "I am happy, but sad that I did not get any further," said Osaka.
