The ITIA confirmed this on Wednesday.

Wenders admitted to having committed match-fixing several times. He destroyed evidence requested by the ITIA (then Tennis Integrity Unit) and failed to report corrupt practices, it is said.

The case was originally heard by Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer (AHO) Professor Richard McLaren in April 2021, where Wenders was also fined $12,000. Publication of the case was delayed due to the intervention of Wenders' legal team.

Wenders will now be banned from playing, (other) coaching or participating in tennis events sanctioned or sanctioned by the tennis federations for a period of 12 years from the date of the decision (April 28, 2021).

Among other things, Wenders was the long-term coach of double specialist Demi Schuurs, and he also worked briefly with Anett Kontaveit.According to information from the opencourt.ca site , he was also in a relationship with Australian Open winner Sofia Kenin (but not her coach). The relationship between the two ended at the end of 2021.
