Iga Swiatek beat Elena Rybakina in the final

Iga Swiatek won her first title of the season on Saturday. The four-time Grand Slam winner won the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Doha against Elena Rybakina 7:6 (8) and 6:2. The Pole took the crown in the Qatari capital for the third time in a row and also ended her negative streak against Rybakina.

Before the final in Doha, the Kazakh woman had won three times in a row against Swiatek. Rybakina didn't lack for chances on Saturday either: the 2022 Wimbledon winner was already leading 4-1 (two breaks) in the first round and served at 6-5 to win the set. She also left a set point unused in the tiebreak.

Swiatek doesn't let anything go wrong in the second set

It was world number one Swiatek who secured the first set after 90 minutes of play. The second section was much less spectacular: Swiatek got two breaks to make it 2:1 and 5:2 and was then able to celebrate the 7:6 (8) and 6:2 success.
