Petra Kvitova beat Jessica Pegula in two sets

According to the pictures on Thursday, the organizers of the WTA 500 tournament in Doha had already expected it, on Friday Victoria Azarenka then clarified: Due to back problems that had plagued her in the quarter-finals against Elina Svitolina, the 31-year-old was able to not compete in their semi-final match against Garbine Muguruza.

The Spaniard will meet Petra Kvitova in the final, who in turn beat Jessica Pegula 6: 4 and 6: 4. The Czech defied the strong wind better than her opponent, caught up 2: 4 behind in the second set and is thus in her first final since the tournament in Stuttgart in 2019.

In the head to head between Kvitova and Muguruza, the Czech leads 4-1. In addition, the last four encounters all went to the 30-year-old.
