France's Caroline Garcia triumphed for the first time at the WTA Finals, marking the greatest success of her tennis career. The 29-year-old prevailed in the final in Fort Worth/Texas against Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus 7:6 (7:4), 6:4. In the semifinals, Sabalenka defeated the outstanding Pole Iga Swiatek.

"Today was an incredible final, so much intensity in every single point," said Garcia. She is the second French woman, after Amelie Mauresmo (2005), to win the season finale of the eight best players of the year.

This year's semi-finalist in Wimbledon and at the US Open received prize money equivalent to 1.57 million euros, and she climbed to fourth place in the world rankings for the first time.

There was a little surprise in doubles. And great drama. Because the fourth seeded Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens beat the two Czech favorites Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova 6:2, 4:6 and 11:9.
