Obviously Garbine Muguruza did not feel like experimenting with her open coaching position. And so the two-time major winner announced on Saturday via Twitter that she returns to Conchita Martinez. Muguruza had already worked with the Wimbledon champion in 2017 and 2018, even during the period when Sam Sumyk was the main coach of the Spaniard. From Sumyk, however, Muguruza, who won the title in 2016 at Roland Garros and the following year at Wimbledon, split up during the season. Also, because she hibernates in the WTA world ranking at position 35.

Martinez, on the other hand, had recently taken care of Karolina Pliskova. This cooperation was terminated after the WTA Finals in Shenzhen.

So, the coaching carousel on the WTA tour continues: Darren Cahill, for example, will again be on the side of Simona Halep, Sascha Bajin, recently separated from Kristina Mladenovic, takes on the young Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska. And the two best German players are known to have also reoriented themselves: Angelique Kerber will try it in 2020 with Dieter Kindlmann as coach, Julia Görges with the former German Fed Cup team boss Jens Gerlach.
