A home win at the WTA Tour 250 tournament in Lyon is within reach: Caroline Garcia is in her fifteenth final on the big women's tour after a two-set win over Colombian Camila Osorio. The 29-year-old French defeated the South American twice after just 72 minutes of play, 6-2.
In the first semi-final of the day, Alycia Parks made it into her first-ever WTA Tour final. The 22-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, who knocked out Austrian Julia Grabher in the first round, defeated Belgium's Maryna Zanevska 6:3, 7:6 (4). The only duel between Garcia and Parks so far was won by the WTA Finals winner of the previous year 2021 in the first qualifying round for the 1000 event in Cincinnati in three rounds 6: 3, 1: 6, 6: 3.
Tsurenko in her sixth career final
In Hua Hin, Thailand, nothing will happen with Bianca Andreescu's first tournament victory since her US Open triumph in 2019. With a score of 5: 7, 0: 4, the Canadian had to go to the net prematurely against Lesia Tsurenko due to illness. The Ukrainian is in her sixth career final, where she will meet Lin Zhu of China.
The Asian prevailed against her slightly better rated compatriot Xinyu Wang 6: 2, 6: 4 and now has the opportunity to win her first tournament on a big stage.
