Jabeur had almost won the game: she led 5:4 and 30:0 in the second set and was only two points away from the match. But Trevisan broke, forced a decisive third round and won. In the end it was 6:7 (4), 7:5 and 6:3 for the Italian.

However, the first round had also been close, with Trevisan fending off eight (!) set points before Jabeur struck.

Trevisan will now face Caroline Dolehide in the quarterfinals.

Fantastic week continues for Emiliana Arango!

Emiliana Arango is also playing a dream tournament: The 22-year-old Colombian, number 180 in the world rankings, made it into a WTA main draw outside Bogota for the first time in Prague in the summer (where she often received a wildcard). Now she is directly in the quarterfinals of her first 1000 event - after victories over Anastasia Potapova, Sloane Stephens and now Taylor Townsend (7:5, 1:6, 6:4 - after being 2:4 behind in the third set). Next opponent: Maria Sakkari, who continues to feel at home in Guadalajara, she won 6:2, 6:2 against Camila Giorgi.

Arango is already at number 120 in the live ranking, higher than ever!

Also further: Caroline Garcia after a 7:5, 6:4 over Hailey Baptiste, Sofia Kenin after her 6:4, 7:5 against Jelena Ostapenko, Victoria Azarenka after a 6:2, 6:1 against Veronika Kudermetova and Leylah Fernandez with a 6:2, 6:3 against Emma Navarro.
