Iga Swiatek is currently number one in the WTA rankings for the 90th week

When it comes to women's tennis, there is currently no way around Iga Swiatek. The Pole also occupies the number one position in women's tennis this Monday, completing 90 weeks at the place in the sun in the WTA rankings. A feat that only nine other athletes had achieved before her in the history of the WTA players' organization.

Swiatek was at the top for the first 75 weeks from April 4, 2022, until Aryna Sabalenka was able to take the lead in the women's world rankings for eight weeks on September 10, 2023. With the victory at the WTA finals in Cancun, the four-time Grand Slam champion catapulted herself back to the throne and has now been on the coveted top podium for a total of fifteen more weeks.

As previously mentioned, since 1975 only nine women have surpassed this incredibly high bar. The record holder is still the great Steffi Graf, who spent a total of 377 weeks at the top of the WTA leaderboard.

Here are the other positions:

1. Steffi Graf (377 weeks)

2. Martina Navratilova (332)

3.Serena Williams (319)

4. Chris Evert (260)

5. Martina Hingis (209)

6. Monica Seles (178)

7. Ashleigh Barty (121)

8. Justine Henin (117)

9. Lindsay Davenport (98)

10. Iga Swiatek (90)
