Sascha Bajin was Karolina Pliskova's coach for 20 months

After her early Wimbledon exit, former world number one Karolina Pliskova ended her collaboration with German tennis coach Sascha Bajin. The 30-year-old Czech announced this on Twitter on Monday. Pliskova, who only failed in the final at Wimbledon last year, was eliminated in the second round of the Grand Slam in London.

"Even good things come to an end one day, it was a great time and I learned a lot," wrote Pliskova, who had been collaborating with Bajin since November 2020. She called the German "one of the best coaches ever".

Pliskova, now world number 15, lost the US Open final to Angelique Kerber in 2016. Last year she lost in the Wimbledon final to Australian Ashleigh Barty, who has now retired.

The 37-year-old Bajin had already trained Naomi Osaka, among others, the Japanese won the US Open in 2018 and the Australian Open in early 2019.
