Two against one, that would have been unfair, Angelique Kerber posted on social media before the start of the US Open. And thus announced her pregnancy to the general public. The three-time major winner did catch a bit of tennis from New York. Oh, what: a lot of tennis, as Kerber said on Saturday evening. The 34-year-old was invited to Eurosport as an expert to accompany the women's final between Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur with Barbara Rittner as an expert.

And since Kerber was particularly enthusiastic about the eventual winner at the beginning of the second set, yes, she even certified Iga Swiatek a "perfect performance". Rittner also found it extremely remarkable that the only 21-year-old Pole kept her nerves despite a late comeback from Jabeur and did not drop a set again in a final. Quite apart from the footwork of the newly crowned US Open champion: "She moves incredibly today - her footwork: hats off!" Kerber was enthusiastic.

Angelique Kerber left no doubt that she would make a comeback on the WTA tour after her baby break: "I'm not stopping yet, I'll definitely be back." And she has one goal for her playful future: she will observe their opponents even more closely in order to further optimize their tactics.
