A strong 2021 season will lead Tamara Zidansek from one highlight to the next. After the unexpected semi-finals at the French Open, the Slovenian now won her first tournament victory at the WTA Tour level at the clay court tournament in Lausanne. The 23-year-old achieved a 4: 6, -7: 6 (5), - 6: 1 success over the French Clara Burel in the final. The final in the Swiss city on Lake Geneva was fiercely contested for at least the first two sets and demanded perseverance from the audience with a duration of 2:04 hours.

The only detail that should diminish the performance of the lady from Postonja on closer inspection: The world ranking 50. was number one at the rather mixed event. Your final opponent is currently in position 125 in the WTA rankings. The cut for the main competition was at position 218 for a WTA tournament in the 250 category on an extremely weak level. There was also something to cheer about for the Swiss fans in Lausanne: Susan Bandecchi and Simona Waltert won the title in the doubles competition.
