Teichmann beat Shelby Rogers 6: 3, 6: 2 and is in her third WTA final - the first on hard court. Rogers surprised on Friday with a win over Serena Williams.
The 23-year-old Teichmann is building on her form from the "pre-Corona era". She cracked the Top 100 for the first time in 2019, thanks in part to her final victories in Prague and Palermo, and made it to 54th place. It is currently listed at number 63. In Lexington she had beaten Yulia Putintseva and CiCi Bellis during the tournament.
The opponent in the final is Jennifer Brady. The American was nominally number 49 as the favorite in her game against Cori Gauff (WTA No. 53), but her 6: 2, 6: 4 victory came as a bit of a surprise.
Brady is still waiting for her first title on the WTA tour. And must create a novelty against Teichmann: Because the Swiss woman has so far had a flawless record in WTA finals (2-0). In a direct comparison of the two, it is 1: 1.
