WTA: Linda Fruhvirtova and Katerina Siniakova win titles

The only 17-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova won her first title on the WTA tour at the 250 tournament in Chennai. In the meantime, Katerina Siniakova won the tournament in Portoroz.

Great success for Linda Fruhvirtova: The only 17-year-old Czech won her first title on the women's tour at the WTA 250 tournament in Chennai and thus once again demonstrated her great potential. In the final, the teenager beat third-placed Magda Linette 4:6, 6:3 and 6:4.

In the third set, everything initially pointed to a triumph for Linette, as the Pole was already leading 4:1. After that, however, Fruhvirtova unpacked her fighting qualities once again and secured victory in the tournament in the Indian city. In the world rankings, the 17-year-old will be in the top 75 for the first time on Monday.

Siniakova triumphs in Portoroz

At the WTA 250 event in Portoroz, Slovenia, Katerina Siniakova won the title. The 26-year-old defeated the reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in the final 6: 7 (4), 7: 6 (5) and 6: 4 and thus achieved her third individual triumph on the WTA tour.

The match was like a rollercoaster ride: Rybakina led 5-0 in the first set, but then lost five games in a row and only bagged the set win in the tie-break. The second section then also ran on a knife's edge, in the third round Siniakova initially lost a break lead. Only to win the match with two game wins in a row.
