Haas had three breaks in the first set, but the Steyrer had to serve five times. In the second round she did not use any of her four break chances at the 1-1 score, after a short puff up she had to give up after an hour and 43 minutes.

"My serve let me down a bit. I felt like I was taking too much risk every now and then. It's very bitter," Haas told ORF after the match.

After Julia Grabher, the second ÖTV player was eliminated in single. As the last Austrian to date, Patricia Mayr-Achleitner made it through the first round in Linz six years ago and reached the quarter-finals in 2013.
