WTA Linz: top favorite Maria Sakkari in the semifinals
Maria Sakkari makes the most of her first appearance at the WTA Tour 250 tournament in Linz. The Greek is in the semifinals after beating Donna Vekic 6:3 and 7:6 (9).

There was no lack of drama in the third quarter-finals at the WTA Tour 250 tournament in Linz. Maria Sakkari had to fend off no less than five set balls from Donna Vekic in the second set before she was able to win the tie-break 11:9. In the semi-finals, the Greek, who was seeded first, will face either Petra Martic or Clara Tauson.
In the bottom half of the tableau, Anastasia Potapova and Marketa Vondrousova qualified for the semifinals. After Jule Niemeier, Potapova defeated the next German, Anna-Lena Friedsam, while Vondrousova benefited from Dalma Galfi's surrender.
