"In view of the current numbers of new infections and actual corona diseases, tightening the measures to contain the disease is understandable. However, it has been proven several times that sporting events can be carried out safely if a strict prevention concept is adhered to. This is the result of the 'Restart-19' study published yesterday by the University of Halle an der Saale.

Health protection is our top priority. At the ATP tournament we organized in Hamburg in September, a total of 17,000 people were present on the tournament grounds throughout the tournament; Spectators, employees and officials added together. Not a single positive corona case has occurred. The Upper Austria Ladies Linz, which will take place from November 7th to 15th, can serve as a model for the entire industry with its concept.

I therefore call on the responsible government agencies with Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Vice Chancellor and Sports Minister Werner Kogler and Health Minister Rudolf Anschober to take the measures we have taken into account when deciding on possible restrictions on events. "

Tournament director Sandra Reichel already made personal contact with the federal ministries in Vienna on Friday.
