Of course, the tournament in Luxembourg does not have the reputation of the US Open, but the second title for an 18-year-old within a few days is of course remarkable. Especially since Clara Tauson is the last player so far that Emma Raducanu, winner in New York, was able to defeat: It was at the 125cc event in Chicago, in the run-up to the last major of the year.

In Luxembourg, Tauson has now won the second tournament victory on the "big" WTA tour, the first was earlier in the year in Lyon. Tauson prevailed against Jelena Ostapenko, French Open winner of 2017, with 6: 3, 4: 6 and 6: 4. With the success against the Latvian, the 18-year-old Tauson also secured a new career high: As of Monday, she will be at position 52 in the WTA charts.

Ashleigh Barty was also able to convince himself how strong Clara Tauson can play: The number one in the world had big problems with the teenager in the second round match in the second set of the US Open.
