WTA Luxembourg: Next youngster shows, Bencic has no chance against Samsonova

At the WTA 250 event in Luxembourg, another youngster is currently showing on the WTA tour. The Danish Clara Tauson is in the semi-finals in Luxembourg, but the Olympic champion Belinda Bencic has clearly failed.

In the early afternoon in Luxembourg, the number three of the tournament, Jelena Ostapenko, bought her ticket for the semifinals. The Latvian had to break into a tie-break against Alize Cornet from France in the first set, after Ostapenko had won it, she was no longer naked and made the 7: 6 (6) and 6: 2 success perfect.

In the semifinals, Ostapenko now faces the Russian Liudmila Samsonova, who showed a brilliant performance in the quarterfinals to knock the number one of the tournament, Belinda Bencic, out of the tournament. The Olympic champion was lost for long stretches of the game - with 1: 6 and 4: 6, the Swiss finally had to give up the sails.

In the lower tableau, Clara Tauson surprisingly made it to the semifinals. After the sensational teenage final at the US Open, the 18-year-old Dane is another youngster who is putting a strong test of talent. The 18-year-old defeated Marie Bouzkova in two sets in the semifinals. In the second round, Tauson had already kicked Ekaterina Alexandrova out of the tournament.

Marketa Vondrousova and Elise Mertens, the number two of the tournament, contest the last quarter-finals in the evening.
