The final in Lyon lasted 1:49 hours, then Kenin left the court for the second time this season as a tournament winner. Before that she had defeated Muguruza in the final of the Australian Open Garbine, also in three sets. For Kenin it was the fifth career triumph, Anna-Lena Friedsam has to wait for her first. Nevertheless, the event was a success for the German - she defeated three seeded players with Kristina Mladenovic, Viktoria Kuzmova and in the semi-finals Daria Kasatkina.
In the WTA world rankings, Kenin thus improved by one place to fourth, a new career high. Friedsam, in turn, was approaching the top 100 and will be in position 106 on Monday.
