Ash Barty has successfully started the WTA 1000 event in Miami after two victories. A tournament in which the Australians only have one thing in mind: the title.

It was a hot dance in round one that the world number one Ash Barty and Kristina Kuchova delivered at the WTA 1000 event in Miami. With the better end for the Australian, with 7: 5 in the decisive set, Barty made the promotion in round two, in which she showed no nakedness against Jelena Ostapenko.

An important success for Barty, who has hardly played any tournaments since the interruption of the WTA tour in March of the previous year and only returned to the professional tennis stage at the Australian Open this year: "Every win is important to me and I'm already focused on my next game. The best that can happen to tennis players like me is that we keep learning from each game, keep growing and trying to develop our game and learn from each of our mistakes. Every experience helps us for the following games to learn, "says Barty.

Barty: "It's very difficult to plan"

Now another real test is waiting for the number one in the women's tennis world, who with a final could in any case prevent Naomi Osaka from taking her place at the top of the WTA charts. In the round of 16, Barty now faces Victoria Azarenka, who won against Angelique Kerber on Saturday: "I will have to do my best. I want to win and continue in the fight for the title,"said the Australian after her second-round success.

How things will go on for Ash Barty after the Miami tournament cannot be said with certainty. The planning uncertainty is too great these days, as the 24-year-old emphasizes: "I'm not sure which tournaments I will play in the next few weeks. It is very difficult to plan which tournaments I will play in the next few months. Now I'm focused on playing a good tournament in Miami and then I'm going to play in Charleston, "says Barty. "I think the season will be normal. Let's knock on wood. Hopefully we can continue like this and soon everything will be back to normal."
