Andrea Petkovic is in the quarterfinals of the WTA Tour 250 tournament in Melbourne. There, the Darmstadt native could meet Naomi Osaka.

Andrea Petkovic has also won her second match of the new tennis season and is in the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Melbourne. The 34-year-old from Darmstadt prevailed against the French Clara Burel 7: 5, 2: 6, 6: 4. Petkovic converted her second match point after more than two hours and now meets the top seed Naomi Osaka (Japan) or Maryna Zanevska (Belgium).
Most recently, Petkovic had reached a quarter-finals on the WTA tour in August - and then won the clay court tournament in Cluj-Napoca / Romania. In Melbourne, number 75 in the world rankings is preparing for the Australian Open (from January 17th), which will also take place at the facility on the Yarra River. In the first round she had defeated Lyudmila Samsonova from Russia, who was fifth.
