WTA Miami: Andrea Petkovic safely reaches the second round
Andrea Petkovic (Darmstadt) is at the WTA tournament in Miami after a 7: 5, 6: 1 against the Chinese Shuai Zhang as the third German player after Laura Siegemund and Angelique Kerber in the second round.

After 67 minutes, Petkovic converted her fourth match point and now meets number four seeded Sofia Kenin (USA). Kenin had won the Australian Open in 2020 and reached the final at the French Open.
On Tuesday, Laura Siegemund (Metzingen) won her opening match against Christina McHale (USA) in Miami. She will meet US Open finalist Wiktoria Asarenka (Belarus) in the next round. Angelique Kerber (Kiel), seeded at number 24, had a bye in the first lap. The two qualifiers Hailey Baptiste (USA) and Kristina Kucova (Slovakia) determine their first opponent.
