The tables in tennis can turn so quickly: A week ago Ashleigh Barty was confronted with a match point against Kristina Kucova, seven days later the Australian is now in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami. In the semifinals, the 24-year-old gave her opponent Elina Svitolina little chance.
Thanks to a lightning start, Barty quickly took the lead with two breaks and 4: 1 in the first set. In spite of a temporary sag, she was able to transport this lead to winning the set: 6: 3 after a little more than 40 minutes of playing time from the Australian's point of view.

In the second section, Barty made the first break again - this time to 3-1. She had to give it up again immediately, but after another break to 4-2, the foundation stone for the victory was laid. Barty served safely in the first attempt and thus celebrated a clear 6: 3 and 6: 3 success.
In the final, the defending champion will now face Bianca Andreescu or Maria Sakkari.
