Bianca Andreescu turned the match against Garbine Muguruza

"I know my game can be better. But I'm trying to find ways to get through my bad days," said Bianca Andreescu after her three-set win over Amanda Anisimova in the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami . Only one day later, the Canadian was again victorious in three rounds, but this time she was also quite satisfied with her playful performance.

Finally, Andreescu defeated Garbine Muguruza, who is currently probably the second best player on the WTA tour after Naomi Osaka - even though section one went 6: 3 to the Spaniard. After that, however, the 20-year-old turned it up and finally prevailed with 3: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 2.

Andreescu changes her tactics

"It started very, very well. At the beginning of the match I wasn't at the level I wanted to be, because I knew that it would come out really, really strong. And that is what it did," said Andreescu the lot. But she changed her tactics a little in the second set and was thus successful, the Canadian explained.

Andreescu played into Muguruza's backhand more often after losing the starting set to avoid the 27-year-old's powerful forehand. This plan should work and so ultimately the world number ninth went off as the winner. "It is always satisfactory to win in three sets. Especially when you lose the first half," beamed Andreescu.

Quarter-finals against Sorribes Tormo

"Even when I'm behind, I know that I can find a way. (...) I keep proving it to myself and it's very nice to have clinched this victory," continued the youngster. It is also this fighting spirit that should definitely make Andreescu fans want more.

Because it is obvious that after her long break from injury, not everything can work playfully. And yet, thanks to her excellent attitude, the 2019 US Open winner is slowly but surely on the way to her old strength. Andreescu will have the next chance to prove it against Sara Sorribes Tormo on Wednesday.
