WTA Miami: Gauff fails at Potapova
Cori Gauff was eliminated in the third round of the WTA Tour 1000 tournament in Miami. The American lost to Anastasia Potapova in three sets.

The two women stood on the court for a little over two and a half hours in very summery temperatures in Miami, then Potapova secured her place in the round of 16 with 6: 7 (8), 7: 5 and 6: 2. There, the Linz winner from this year meets the Chinese Qinwen Zheng.
For Gauff it was the next disappointment at the big US tournaments in the spring. In Indian Wells she had no chance against Aryna Dabalenka.
Jelena Ostapenko, on the other hand, is also in the round of 16. The 2017 French Open winner beat Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-2, 4-6 and 6-3.
