No, things weren't looking good for Jessica Pegula late Tuesday night in Miami. Opponent Anastasia Potapova not only won the first round, but also quickly led 2-0 in the second. But good: The last local hero left in the Miami tableau didn't want to leave the stage that quickly. Pegula turned the second set, but fell behind again in the decision. Potapova, however, did not manage to close the sack with her own serve either at 5:4 or at 6:5. Pegula gratefully accepted this invitation and won 4:6, 6:3 and 7:6 (2) after a playing time of 2:36 hours.

With this victory, Jessica Pegula also avenged her doubles partner Cori Gauff, who lost to Anastasia Potapova in round three. The Russian, who won in Linz this year, can still be satisfied with how the tournament went.

Sabalenka and Kvitova in action today

In the semi-finals, Pegula will face the player of the hour - against Elena Rybakina. The reigning Wimbledon winner had no problems at all in the 6: 3 and 6: 0 against Martina Trevisan.

The other two quarter-finals will take place today. Aryna Sabalenka has to deal with the amazingly strong Sorana Cirstea, Petra Kvitova meets Ekaterina Alexandrova in the night session.
