WTA Miami: Sorana Cirstea shocks Aryna Sabalenka in quarterfinals
Sorana Cirstea surprisingly made it into the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami. The Romanian beatAryna Sabalenka 6:4 and 6:4 in the quarterfinals.

Sorana Cirstea caused a big surprise in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami: the world number 74. won 6: 4 and 6: 4 against the reigning Australian Open winner Aryna Sabalenka on Wednesday. Due to the smooth success, the Romanian remained in Florida without losing a set.
Cirstea, who had already played well in Indian Wells and only lost to Iga Swiatek there in the quarter-finals, showed an impressive performance against Sabalenka and hardly allowed the second in the world rankings to develop. In the semi-finals she will now face Ekaterina Alexandrova or Petra Kvitova.
Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula had already bought their semi-final tickets the day before. While the Wimbledon winner from Kazakhstan had no problems at all with Martina Trevisan , the world number three from the USA even had to defuse two match points against Anastasia Potapova .
