The French prevailed 6-0, 6-4 against Mayar Sharif and remains confidently on course for the title - she has not lost more than four games per set in her previous games.

It could be more critical now - Garcia will meet Elise Mertens in the semifinals. The second semi-final is contested by Donna Vekic (after a thriller in three sets against Ysalina Bonaventure) and Lin Zhu.

At the parallel tournament in Austin (USA), local hero Katie Volynets reached her first semi-final at WTA level after beating compatriot Paylon Stearns 7:5, 6:3. Opponent now: Varvara Gracheva. In addition, Danielle Collins plays against Marta Kostyuk.

4th in the tournament, Collins is now the highest-ranked player in the field.
