The meeting between Aryna Sabalenka and Karolina Pliskova promised one thing above all: power tennis. Both women are seldom at a loss for a win, both women like to shine with a powerful game from the baseline. Karolina Pliskova was initially able to force this on her opponent better in the initial phase, who secured the first break of the game.

That should be enough for the Czech to win the set, Pliskova increased the pressure on the server Sabalenka again with the score of 5: 3, grabbed the second break of the game and with it the first round. The second set was extremely even at the beginning, both players got through their service games without any problems. This time Sabalenka was able to disturb this calm with a break win - the Belarusian went 4: 3 in the front.

In the final against surprise lady

Pliskova's counterattack was not long in coming, and the Czech woman immediately took her serve from number one in the tournament. Also because she helped something with her fifth double fault. But that's not all: Pliskova subsequently made her serve through, Sabalenka had to serve against the loss of the match with a score of 4: 5. The world number three did not succeed, Karolina Pliskova used her first match ball to make it into the final after a little more than an hour and 20 minutes.

In the final, Pliskova is now waiting for the winner of the duel between two surprise ladies. On the lower half of the draw, Jessica Pegula and Camila Giorgi meet on Sunday night. The latter stopped youngster Coco Gauff in two sets in the quarterfinals, while Pegula prevailed against the Tunisian Ons Jabeur in three sets.
