WTA Nur-Sultan: Anna-Lena Friedsam successful in doubles
The German Anna-Lena Friedsam won the title at the WTA Tour 250 event in Sofia alongside Monica Niculescu .

In the singles she failed in the round of 16 against the eventual tournament winner Alison Van Uytvanck, but in doubles she was able to strike fully: Anna-Lena Friedsam won the double title at the WTA Tour 250 event in Sofia alongside Romanian Monica Niculescu. In the final, the three seeded pair won against the Russian team Angelina Gabueva and Anastasia Zakharova 6: 2, 4: 6 and 10: 5.
While it was the tenth double title of her career for Niculescu, Friedsam was crowned double tournament winner for the second time in her career. In 2019, the 27-year-old from Neuwied won the double competition in Stuttgart alongside her compatriot Mona Barthel. Friedsam and Niculescu had previously started together at a WTA Tour event - 2015 in Guangzhou, China.
