WTA Ostrava: Raducanu loses to Kasatkina at the start
Emma Raducanu lost 5:7 and 4:6 to Daria Kasatkina in the first round of the Ostrava WTA Tour 500 tournament.

The recent past has not gone badly for Emma Raducanu, in Seoul the 2021 US Open winner reached the semifinals, where she had to give up in the third set against Jelena Ostapenko due to an injury in the buttocks. At the heavily occupied WTA Tour 500 tournament in Ostrava, however, Raducanu was eliminated in round one: the Briton lost to Daria Kasatkina 5: 7 and 4: 6. Kasatkina plays her Russian compatriot Ekaterina Alexandrova in the round of 16.
Ostapenko was also in action earlier on Tuesday in Ostrava, but was beaten by Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-2, 6-2.
US Open champion Iga Swiatek, who meets Ajla Tomljanovic after a bye, has not yet been in action. Before which she will be warned: Because Tomljanovic ended Serena Williams' career in New York City a few weeks ago.
