WTA Ostrava: Viktoria Azarenka manages a crazy net scooter

Viktoria Azarenka won an extremely strange point at the WTA tournament in Ostrava, Czech Republic. In the last game in her 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 win against Barbora Krejcikova, the ball danced on the edge of the net for several seconds after a backhand slice.

Finally the ball fell to the ground on the opponent's side. Azarenka, kneeling after her blow, sank her face in one hand and sincerely apologized to Krejcikova for the rally.

The former world number one shook off a weak start, turned the game around and reached the quarter-finals after two hours and 13 minutes. The number 14 in the world won twelve of their last 13 matches on hard court.

"My fighting spirit brought me into the match. I slowly began to find my way to my game," said Azarenka after the match. The Belarusian beat 39 winners in 18 unconstrained matches. Krejcikova even had 44 winners, but she also made 34 unforced mistakes. Azarenka meets Karolina Muchova or number seven on the seed list, Elise Mertens, in the quarter-finals.

Maria Sakkari caused the surprise of the day by knocking Elina Svitolina 6: 3, 6: 3 off the pitch. Jelena Ostapenko clearly beat Petra Martic 6: 3, 6: 1.
