After Cori Gauff won the junior women's title in Roland Garros at the age of 14, the tennis fanatic knows that the young American gets along well on the ashes. Last week Gauff reached the semi-finals in Rome, where she lost to eventual winner Iga Swiatek. In Parma, Cori Gauff will play for the second title in her young career on Saturday after a 7: 5, 1: 6 and 6: 2 against Katerina Siniakova. The now 17-year-old got the first in Linz at the end of 2019, when she was a lucky loser.
Siniakova had defeated the 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams in her second match, but could only challenge Gauff in the second set.
In the final on Saturday, Gauff will meet either her compatriot Sloane Stephens, 2017 US Open winner, or the Chinese Qiang Wang. Before that, the teenage girl has to do it again: In doubles, she is in the semi-finals with her friend Cathy McNally. By the way, Gauff won the French Open title against McNally in Paris.
