Two WTA clay court tournaments in the 250 category were decided this weekend and Petra Martic and Bernarda Pera were allowed to enter the lists of winners. The 31-year-old Croatian Martic clearly defeated the Serb Olga Danilovic 6: 4, 6: 2 in the final in Lausanne. For the lady from Split it is the second full triumph on the big women's tour after the success in Istanbul 2019, when she defeated the Czech Marketa Vondrousova in three sets in the final. Danilovic, who is only 21 today, surprisingly won the WTA Tour 250 event in Moscow as a lucky loser in 2018 - but is currently in 124th position but has to wait for her second title.
A similar picture in Budapest: In the final in the Hungarian capital, the American Bernarda Pera, who was after all born in Croatia, beat the Serbian Aleksandra Krunic twice 6: 3. For Pera, who started under the Croatian flag until 2013, it is the first WTA Tour title ever - and that from the qualification. So far, the 27-year-old has only triumphed once in doubles with the Czech Katerina Siniakova at the beginning of the year in Melbourne. Krunic was able to hit the grass tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch at least in 2018 and knocked out the Belgian Kirsten Flipkens in three sets in the final.
