The 20-year-old lost 2-6, 6-7 (2) to local hero Marie Bouzkova, who was eighth. Kraus did well here, fought his way into the tie-break against the world number 66 in the second round after being 0: 3 and 2: 4 behind.

Boukova had only recently reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon.

In addition, the Austrian scored the point of the day, albeit with luck, when she just about caught a return at 1:3 in the first set and got so much backspin that he jumped back from Bouzkova's side.

Sinja Kraus knocks on Top 200

Kraus got into the main draw in Prague as a lucky loser, even if she couldn't take advantage of it now.

Nevertheless, she is in good form: she has already reached two ITF finals in 2022 and won an ITF tournament in Villach in May.

She is currently ranked 212 in the WTA ranking, higher than ever; thanks to the two qualifying matches won in Prague, it will continue to rise in the coming week.

At the start of the season, she was still outside the top 400.

The tournament in Prague was only the third WTA event of her career, the second main draw match after Linz in 2021.
