WTA Rabat: Tatjana Maria fails in the round of 16
Tatjana Maria (Bad Saulgau) missed the quarterfinals at the WTA tournament in Rabat.

The 35-year-old Wimbledon semi-finalist lost her round of 16 against the Italian Lucia Bronzetti 7: 6 (7: 1), 4: 6, 5: 7 in Morocco's capital on Wednesday. Maria, who was eighth, was the only German starter in Rabat.
Maria showed strong nerves in the first set, earned the tie break with a late break and secured the lead. In the second round she was then initially on the trigger, but lost the thread. The Italian won seven games in a row from the middle of the second set and was already leading 3-0 in the decisive set. Maria fought back, but had to admit defeat after 2:54 hours.
