Starting today, Kerber and the German team will take part in the final round of the Billie Jean King Cup in Prague. This season, the 33-year-old won the WTA tournament in Bad Homburg and reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon, where she was defeated by the eventual winner Ashleigh Barty . Barty continues to lead the WTA world rankings confidently, but the Australian has ended her season prematurely. Aryna Sabalenka, Barbora Krejcikova and Karolina Pliskova follow behind Barty.
The last three will also start at the WTA Finals in Guadalajara. Also qualified are the two Spaniards Garbine Muguruza and Paula Badosa, Maria Sakkari from Greece, the Polish Iga Swiatek and Anett Kontaveit, who also won the title in Cluj-Napoca after her triumph in Moscow. Angelique Kerber is in 16th place in the annual ranking.
