Strycova won against Maryna Zanevska 6: 1, 3: 6 and 6: 3 - and celebrated her first win in her second singles after returning to the tour.
The 37-year-old made her comeback two weeks ago in Madrid , but lost here in the first round. In doubles, on the other hand, she had reached the quarterfinals alongside Su-Wei Hsieh.
In Rome, Strycova now meets Maria Sakkari, who is ninth.
Strycova took a baby break after the Australian Open 2021. The former world number 16 (and double number 1) now wants to play a few tournaments and celebrate the end of her career at the US Open in late summer.
