WTA: Serena Williams and Sloane Stephens call for Lexington
The WTA tournament in Lexington, Kentucky, which is planned for mid-August, has received two prominent promises: Serena Williams and Sloane Stephens want to start.

As of August 10th, it will be played in Lexington, a week after the WTA tour in Palermo has started again. Both mentioned events are in the "International" category - so only a top ten player can sign up. Unless the prize money is increased. In view of the circumstances with empty stands and thus without ticket revenue, this is an unrealistic scenario.
So the top spot in Palermo has been secured by Simona Halep, in Lexington Serena Williams should ensure the greatest possible attention. Halep is currently number three on the WTA charts, Serena is ninth.
Sloane Stephens, 2017 US Open champion, will also dare to go to the hard courts in Kentucky. Stephens was also recently used at an exhibition fight event in Charleston. Serena Williams' last match took place at the Fed Cup meeting with Latvia in February.
