At least since the Australian Open presented their vaccination schedule for the upcoming edition next year, the topic of COVID vaccination has been hotly debated in ATP and WTA circles. Either fully vaccinated and without restrictions or a 14-day quarantine on site - there are no more than these two variants. And which of the two would be the more pleasant for the organizers, we do not need to go long here.

Romania in the COVID crisis

While Novak Djokovic or Aryna Sabalenka continue to insist on their right to privacy, Simona Halep is clearly in favor of the double stitch. "I am clearly in favor and I have already been vaccinated," said the former world number one at a press conference during the WTA Tour 500 tournament in Moscow. "We have serious problems with this in Romania, our hospitals are overcrowded and what is happening there is a tragedy."

The vaccination rate in Halep's home country is indeed catastrophic - currently only 30.5 percent of the population are fully immunized. “I encourage everyone to get vaccinated, Australia made the right decision. As difficult as it may be, that is the only way to be able to play the tournament. ”It remains to be seen whether the Southeast European's appeal will be heard. Currently, around 30 percent of tennis players are said to have not yet been vaccinated.
