Simona Halep separates from her coaching duo after the round of 16 at the Australian Open

The coaching carousel keeps turning, whether on the ATP tour - such as with Scotland's Andy Murray - or in the women's circus. The most recent example of this is Simona Halep. As the online platform Digi Sports reports, the former number one in women's tennis is separating from her supervisor duo Daniel Dobre and Adrian Marcu.

Next performance in Dubai in mid-February

While Dobre actively supported her in her Wimbledon triumph in 2019, Marcu was only brought back to the supervisory staff of the two-time Grand Slam winner in September of the previous year as a replacement for Darren Cahill. Marcu first worked for Halep in 2013. The decision came after the round of 16 defeat at the Australian Open against French Alizé Cornet.

As Eurosport Romania speculate, communication issues could have hastened the decision. According to the 30-year-old's official website, she is planning her next tournament appearance at the Dubai Tennis Championships, which are scheduled to take place on February 14. It currently looks like the Romanian will start there without a supervisor if she doesn't find anything in the next few days.
