After almost four years, Daria Kasatkina was finally able to celebrate another win against a top 5 player. The Russian won the quarterfinals of the WTA Tour 500 tournament in Sydney against Garbine Muguruza 6: 4 and 6: 4. Kasatkina stopped the successful run of the Spaniard, who won the WTA Finals in Guadalajara at the end of last year.

Kastakina is now playing against Paula Badosa, who beat Belinda Bencic 7: 6 (6), 3: 6 and 6: 3. Before that, however, Bencic had to finish their round of 16 game against Oceane Dodin.

Barbora Krejcikova and Anett Kontaveit will contest the second semifinals. The Czech French Open winner from 2021 was completely convincing in the 6: 0 and 6: 2 against Caroline Garcia. Kontaveit won the first set against Ons Jabeur 6: 4, after which the Tunisian had to give up.
