Elina Svitolina returns to the WTA Tour in Charleston

Elina Svitolina has not played a professional tennis match in Miami since last year and has since taken a break from her profession. For private reasons: Svitolina finally gave birth to her first daughter Skai in the fall, and father Gael Monfils was correspondingly happy about it.

At the time, Mr. Papa also had a lot of time to take care of his young family. After leaving Montreal, Monfils was unable to play a match on the ATP tour due to injury. Monfils only came back a few days ago in Indian Wells, but lost there in round one to Jordan Thompson.

Now it's apparently time for Elina Svitolina to pick up the racket again. And in competitions. The Ukrainian accepted a wildcard for the WTA Tour 500 tournament in Charleston. And will probably arrive with a new coach who is well-known in the scene: Raemon Sluiter is said to be the new trainer. And that has already led Kiki Bertens to the top of the world.

As is well known, Charleston is played on green sand. Svitolina prepared for this in Monte Carlo. It will be interesting to see in what condition the former top ten player will return.
